Welcome to my Blog / Trail Cam Pics

Hey everyone and welcome to my blog.  My name is Jonathan Wilhelm and I am a young birder living in southern Ontario, Canada.  Living out in the country, I have easy access to the outdoors.  Birding is one of my favorite hobbies, but I also enjoy watching mammals, insects, reptiles etc.  Most of my birding takes place on our farm, but I also travel somewhat within Ontario and occasionally outside the province as well.  I do not have professional camera equipment, but do take pictures with cell phone and digital camera.  I also put out a trail camera from time to time and will hopefully post many of those as well.

To start off, here is a small sample of photos taken by my trail camera recently and throughout the summer.
Wild turkey: taken in one of our largest woodlots.

Mourning dove and female rose-breasted grosbeak behind:  I set up the camera at the feeder to see what kind of pictures I could get.

The following pictures were taken in front of a chicken.  I was interested to see what checked it out.
 White tailed deer stopped by.

Probably just a coyote, but these above two are some of the strangest ones I have ever taken. I had to have been practically touching the camera.

Some interesting poses from a turkey vulture.

And lastly some pictures taken just a few days ago.

Fox and a raccoon.  Pretty ordinary animals and yet cool to see anyway.

Birding has been pretty slow around here lately.  Our ponds have frozen over so it won't be so easy to look for interesting ducks until spring.  Feeders have good numbers of juncos, goldfinches, chickadees etc.  I'm hoping to get out soon to clean out the wood duck boxes on our property and get them ready for next spring's tenants.  It will be interesting to see how last season went for the ducks and I'll try to post when I check them out.
